Dear Resident, This week has seen our officers and PCSOs conducting activity as part of Halloween and the run up to Bonfire night. This has included visits to retailers selling fireworks across our four wards. On Friday night our team was out conducting patrols of all four wards to prevent any antisocial behaviour (ASB) usually occurring around Halloween. Our officers and PCSOs attended locations where we have received previous reports of ongoing ASB, Wider patrols were also conducted to keep people safe and prevent any unwanted behaviour that may occur. Whilst on patrol two of our officers had a near miss with a scooter that was ridden towards the van. The rider of the scooter then made off from the officers. After checking the area, the officers located the scooter parker up and seized the scooter as it had no insurance. This van was also seized after officer stopped the vehicle and it transpired that the driver for the vehicle did not have the correct insurance for the vehicle. Officers also seized a Mazda on Saturday after the vehicle was seen driving a bit to fast. The vehicle was pulled over and the driver was found to be driving on a provisional licence without supervision which invalidated their insurance. The vehicle was seized. Two of our officers stopped a male during patrols who was trying to steal from a local supermarket. After stopping the male and conducting checks on the Police National Computer turned out to be wanted for breach of court order. The male was arrested. On Saturday night officers were on patrol when they spotted a vehicle being driven in an erratic manner. Initial checks on the vehicle showed that the vehicle was notified SORN and as such should not be on the road. The officers followed the vehicle to make a stop but the driver ran from the vehicle. The officers gave chase and were able to catch the male. The male was arrested after he tried to discard a quantity of suspected class A drugs by throwing them over a fence. The vehicle was seized.
